A special fund-raiser organised by three Warrington councillors at the Cinnamon Lounge Restaurant in town, helped raise over £2,500 for the Ukraine appeal.
The event was organised by Warrington councillors Mo Hussain, Anthony Higgins and Sagheer Zaman. The collaboration raised £2,550 for the DEC charities (disasters emergency committee) who have been at the forefront of helping those affected by the conflict in Ukraine: providing food, water, shelter and medical assistance.
The evening included a banquet for the attendees and a raffle prize draw. Prizes were donated by Cinnamon Lounge, Warrington Wolves, Livewire, Walton Gardens, Paul Taylor of Taylor Business & many others. Cllr Mo Hussain thanked the staff and management of the restaurant for their continuous support. He added, “I would like to thank everyone who came and even those who couldn’t – but still donated for Ukraine.”
Director of Cinnamon Lounge, Imran Malik, commented, “Even amidst the current situation of rising costs; people of Warrington have donated to help others. That’s something to be very proud of.”
Cllr Tony Higgins said “ a big thank you to the Cinnamon Lounge and its staff for accommodating this event at short notice and for their support.
“This fundraiser was our way to raise some much-needed funds that will go towards helping the citizens of the Ukraine during this appalling time “
