Anger over parking chaos

2

ANGRY residents are calling for action to stop parking chaos in Jackson Avenue, Thompson Avenue and other nearby roads at Culcheth.
Motorists are parking in the roads – often blocking residents’ drives – because the car park in Jackson Avenue if taken up by shopworkers’ cars, they claim.
Resident Jim Carr told Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council he had been told shopworkers were being instructed to use the Jackson Avenue car park rather than the store’s own car park.
“This means people come to shop in Culcheth and can’t park,” he said.
Mr Carr questioned whether a park-and-ride scheme could be introduced for the village.
He was told that park-and-ride was a borough council responsibility.

  1. It might help if there was somewhere sensible to park bikes. Last time I rode there, I discovered the location of the bike stands meant that bikes stuck out into the path of oncoming traffic. The supermarket manager (a keen mountain biker, apparently) promised to look at a better location, but nothing has changed . . .

  2. Isn’t any car park available for any car? The major problem with parking in Culcheth is caused by the lazy residents of Culcheth who wont walk a couple of hundred yards to pick up a few items of shopping.
