Fire crews help rescue person from River Mersey at Bridgefoot

FIVE fire crews helped rescue a person from the River Mersey at Bridgefoot, Warrington, earlier today.

Shortly before 10am Fire engines from Penketh, Lymm, Widnes, and Birchwood along with the aerial ladder platform from Lymm attended at the scene following reports of a person in the water.

Crews were called to assist with the rescue of a person from the water at Bridgefoot.

Swift-water rescue equipment was set up and a raft deployed.

Firefighters were also on the bankside with throw lines. The casualty was rescued from the water and assessed by the ambulance service.

  1. This was sad to witness, but a rapid response from our police force. well done and to the Fire Crew who went in after to save the person’s life I hope they are getting the help they need
