Travellers to be served with court papers to be removed from Poole Park

TRAVELLERS are set to be served with court papers ordering them to vacate an illegal encampment on Poole Park at Orford, after ignoring an order to vacate the land by 3pm yesterday.

Warrington Borough Council’s legal departnment has been instructed to issue the relevant court papers granting authroity to remove the encampment.

Six caravans and other associated vehicles entered Poole Park on Winwick Road on, Tuesday, after previously setting up camp at Orford Park.

It is believed they breached security measures put on place in a bid to prevent encampments following previous issues at Pool Park in the past.

A Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said: “The group encamped at Poole Park were served with a Section 77 Notice, directing them to vacate the area no later than 3pm, Thursday 31 March.

“As the group has failed to comply with the notice, we have instructed our legal department to issue relevant court papers, which will grant us the authority to remove the encampment.”
