BUDDING young rugby players from Warrington RUFC Under 9’s provided half-time entertainment at Sale Sharks stadium.
They played a match at the half-time break when Sharks were playing Wasps – experiencing what it’s like to play at a stadium in front of stands full of fans.
Warrington RUFC under-9’s are sponsored by property search company, X-Press Legal Services – owned by Russell Welch, who is also father of one of the players.
Russell said: “It was a great chance for the team to experience playing on a big pitch in front of large crowds – definitely a claim to fame! They all had a great time, displaying fantastic sportsmanship. They also all loved watching the live match, as many had never been to a live rugby game before.
“As the team’s sponsor, it was wonderful to see the team given such an amazing opportunity – one that they will never forget.”
The team is gearing up for a tour to Yorkshire in a few weeks’ time to play teams from across the UK.
Russell added: “The initiative was a great way to further encourage a love for the game from a young age, whilst demonstrating the potential career paths in professional sport to young people throughout the region. There were three coach loads of players and parents who all left the game with a smile on their faces!”
