Three fire crews tackle embankment blaze as smoke drifts across railway track

THREE fire crews were called out when smoke from a fire drifted across a railway track at Warrington.

Shortly after 5 pm yesterday, Friday, fire crews from Warrington, Birchwood and Penketh attended reports of a fire on a railway embankment at Slutchers Lane, Warrington.

Firefighters used water from backpacks and also beaters to extinguish the fire on the railway embankment.

The area measured approximately 70 by 3 meters and the smoke was going across the railway line.

Network Rail was aware and was also in attendance.
