Overnight town centre road closures set to come into force

A number of overnight temporary Warrington town centre footpath and road closures are set to come into force for one month from next week, for road works associated with the Centre Park Link scheme.

The closures will be in force between 7 pm to 6 am in a bid to minimise traffic disruption in the area.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which is as follows:-

Prohibition of Driving – 7pm to 6am: A5061 Parker St from its junction with A5061 Liverpool Rd to its junction with A5061 Wilson Patten St; A5061 Wilson Patten St from its junction with A5061 Parker St to its junction with A5061 Bridgefoot; A5061 Bridgefoot from its junction with A5061 Wilson Patten St to its junction with Bridgefoot roundabout.

Footway Closure – 24 Hours: A5061 Wilson Patten St from its junction with Bold St to its junction with Museum St.

Temporary Suspension of Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions Act) 1976 – Revocation and Appointment of Stand for Hackney Carriages (Notice dated 18th June 2020) – Stand located on Wilson Patten Street, South Side, from a point 60 metres west of its junction with Slutchers Lane to its junction with Factory Lane – 24 Hours – 9 spaces.

The Order will be effective from 21st March 2022 for 1 month. The works will be carried out in phases to minimise disruption. The majority of the works will be undertaken off peak or overnight, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works.

The alternative route will be via A5061 Liverpool Rd, A5061 Sankey Way, Sankey Way Roundabout (junction with Priestley St), A57 Priestley St, A57 Froghall Ln, A57 Midland Way, Cockhedge Green Roundabout, A49 Brick St, A49 Fennel St, A49 Mersey St and vice versa.

The restrictions are required for remedial works associated with the Centre Park Link scheme including footway works and carriageway resurfacing.
