A NEW book by Latchford History Group will be launched on Wednesday November 24 at St Hilda’s Mission, Slater Street.
Bridge to Bridge, is described as “a nostalgic meander in words and pictures” along Knutsford Road, Latchford, from Warrington Bridge to Knutsford Road Swing Bridge.
Group secretary Barbara Worrall said that the book aims to give a flavour of life in the past along the thoroughfare.
She said: “The route of Knutsford Road as it passes through Latchford is only one and a half miles long, and at its peak in the 20th century there were about 450 homes and businesses along this short length.
“From being a cluster of properties near to Warrington Bridge, and a tiny village just a short distance away, Latchford has grown into a bustling urban district of Warrington. For local people Knutsford Road has always been the hub and connecting link through the area.”
The book tells of the shops and properties found along Knutsford Road, described as the “backbone of Latchford.”
The launch takes place at 10.30am.
