PLANS to change the use of part of a warehouse from storage to offices at Stretton are being opposed by local councillors.

The retrospective application comes before Warrington Borough council’s development management committee on Thursday – with an officers’ recommendation to approve.

But Stretton Parish Council has objected to the scheme at The Cow Shed, Walnut Tree Farm, Northwich Road, Stretton – part of the Walnut Tree Business Centre.

They say there have been a series of planning applications at the site resulting in it becoming overdeveloped, They say there is an ongoing high demand for parking. A previous application to change the use of a parking area to storage has result in the loss of parking space.

Problems relating to parking and traffic have previously been reported by the parish council.

They note the site is within the Green Belt – and they suggest there are no special circumstances to allow the development.

But Warrington Borough Council planning officers argue that the internal alterations to increase the office space are acceptable. They say there is no detrimental impact on the character of the surrounding area, that the changes will support an existing business in providing employment and that there will be no significant harm to the residential amenity or highway safety.
The site has an existing access off Northwich Road, which it shares with The Hollies Farm Shop.
