LATCHFORD Albion open their 2022 campaign this Saturday (March 5) after a challenging pre-season programme.
They will travel to Shevington Sharks for the their first league game since promotion to the NWML Premier Division,.
Head coach Martyn Ellis acknowledges the pre-season programme has been difficult but believes the club is as well prepared as it can be.
He said: “ We, as well as a lot of other clubs, have been affected by Covid-19. We are in a fortunate position that we have a decent sized squad, so we can still practice our structures even if missing a few faces. We have been able to recruit well, adding some new faces, as well as some former juniors who are returning to the game, and they have all fitted in really well providing some real competition for places.
“Just as we came through Covid, we were then hit by the recent storms meaning we are going into the season having played one pre season friendly.
“But I believe we are still in a decent position to go out and give a good account of ourselves in this tough league where there are no easy fixtures, and we are as prepared as we can be, and we can’t wait to get started. “
