Warrington Rylands v Trafford – Big game preview

BOTH Warrington Rylands and Saturday’s opponents Trafford had last weekend off courtesy of Storm Eunice, but both return to action this coming Saturday at Gorsey Lane, kick off 3pm.

Having taken 37 points from their 15 home games Rylands are defending the best home record in the division against their rivals from along the railway tracks whose last league outing was a 2-0 defeat at home against Marine on Saturday 12th February.

Trafford did get a run out on Tuesday when they lost 2-1 at Hyde United in the Manchester Premier Cup semi-final, former Rylands players Lewis Earl scoring the winning goal.

Trafford’s form over their past six league games has been a bit patchy with three defeats against Widnes, City of Liverpool and Marine, a draw against Glossop North End and two wins over Market Drayton Town and Runcorn Linnets which has left them 8th in the table nine points off the play off places.

Earlier in the season Warrington Rylands travelled to Shawe View on 18th September and returned home with a hard earned point from a 0-0 draw. The game watched by 472 spectators.

Saturday will be the first opportunity for Rylands fans to see latest signing Paddy Lacey in a Blue shirt.

Also a professional boxer, Lacey arrives at Gorsey Lane from National League North Chester having previously played for Altrincham, Barrow, Accrington Stanley, Southport and Stalybridge Celtic.

Kick off at Gorsey Lane is 3pm with admission being £8 adults, £5 concessions (16-18 & 60+) £2 U16’s, plus programmes £2.

Refreshment bar in the ground serving beers, hot and cold drinks, pies, burgers and chips etc, while the main club house will be open before and after the game with full bar facilities.
