A new flood alert has been put in place for the Mersey Estuary at Warrington due to further strong winds and the high spring tide.
Tides are expected to be higher than usual due to further strong winds and the high spring tide. Flooding is possible at low-lying land and roads at Fiddlers Ferry between 14:15 PM and 14:45 PM, Eastford Road between 14:30 PM and 15:15 PM and Arpley Bridge between 14:45 PM and 15:15 PM on 20/02/2022.
It is possible that river levels may affect Arpley Road under the railway bridge. We are not expecting any further high tides to reach flood alert levels. We will continue to monitor the forecast and re-issue this alert if necessary.
Avoid using low-lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through floodwater.
River levels are also forecast to rise on the River Sankey due to heavy rainfall.
Flooding was also forecast to affect locations near the River Sankey, with low lying land expected to be most affected, particularly around Black, Barkers, Windle and Whittle Brooks and their tributaries
