A WARRINGTON pub has been told to keep the noise down following complaints from neighbours.
Borough council licensing chiefs have changed licensing conditions at The Hermit, in Hermitage Green Lane, Winwick as a result of the complaints.
The council began investigating complaints against the Hermit Inn after reports of excessive noise during the summer.
Despite officers’ best efforts to resolve the issue informally, the noise continued.
As a result, the case went before the council’s licensing committee and councillors decided that Andrew Case should be removed as the pub’s supervisor under the Licensing Act 2003 for excessively loud music and breach of licensing conditions relating to “the prevention of public nuisance”.
In addition, live music will now be restricted to 11pm instead of midnight and a noise limiting device to control the volume of music will be fitted.
Coun Mike Biggin, executive member for public protection, said: “Taking cases to the licensing committee is a last resort and we will always try to resolve problems in other ways where possible.
“However, the council takes complaints from residents very seriously and where appropriate will take action against anyone causing disturbance. I am pleased that this issue has been resolved.”
