A WARRINGTON man has the chance to win £10,000 in a competition for those who use technology for positive social change.
Ian Franzen works at Lowton Community Centre providing activities and education in art, music, health, drama and sport for young and vulnerable people. The project is such a success that he has been asked by police to extend the provision.
Ian, of Lowton, has been shortlisted for the TalkTalk Digital Heroes Awards, which rewards those using digital technology and the internet to bring about positive social change.
He will compete with others from throughout the country to win the £10,000 technology grant to help improve his project. He would use it to provide modern IT and presentation equipment, computers and the internet in order to attract more users.
People in Warrington can vote for him at www.talktalk.co.uk/digitalheroes/vote – but only until November 12.
The awards have been running for four years and are in conjunction with Citizens Online. Three candidates have been selected from each of the 12 main UK regions, and the public can vote online. Runners-up prizes will also be awarded.
