Rail Stations in Warrington

There are three stations serving the area. The Warrington Central Railway Station is the departure point for Northern trains travelling from Liverpool to Manchester. There are eight trains which depart from Warrington Central station every hour and arrive at Liverpool (Lime Street) and Manchester (Oxford Road). The TransPennine Express travels to Liverpool (Lime Street), and there is an express journey to Scarborough that travels through York and Leeds. You can also travel to Liverpool and Norwich on the East Midlands Railway. The station is comfortable, has stair-free access, and has all the necessary conveniences.

Warrington Bank Quay Station

This station dates back to 1868, and the 19th-century architecture still exists. If you want to travel to Warrington Bank Quay take the West Coast Mainline. There are frequent services to Scotland, London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, and North Wales from the station.

Warrington Bank Quay is to the southwest of the town centre, close to the Cultural Quarter, Pyramid arts, and the Parr Hall concert hall, museum, and art gallery – so plenty to see and do in this part of the city. Head in a northerly direction to discover the Golden Square shopping centre, where you enjoy a scrumptious tea and shop to your heart’s content. Padgate Station

This quaint station forms the southern part of the Liverpool to Manchester Line. This small station houses a fish and chip shop and has stair-free access. There is a shelter where you can wait for your train and an hourly service in each direction to Manchester (Oxford Road) and to Liverpool (Lime Street). There are more trains during peak hours than at quieter times during the day and no services from this station on Sundays.

Getting from the city centre to Warrington Bank Quay Station

To get to the Bank Quay Station, take a bus or taxi from The Golden Square Shopping Centre on Old Market Place. If the weather is good, you may consider a short walk. Buses can be boarded at the Warrington Bus Interchange and take about three minutes to arrive at Arpley Street.

If you have some free time and are travelling with family, Winwick Quay has a bowling alley and an indoor paintball arena. Young kids will enjoy the indoor go-karting ring at Bank Quay.
