Money saver that went wrong?

A MONEY-saving initiative by Warrington Borough Council will end up costing the authority more – because of a design error, a councillor has claimed
Consultation cards asking people to make suggestions on budget cuts have been provided – but do not include contact details or information on where to send the completed cards.
The “Make every penny Count” scheme is featured on the council’s website and cards are available at libraries and other council premises, Stockton Heath Parish Council was told.
Coun Celia Jordan said there were no instructions on the cards to say where they were to be sent or who to contact with ideas.
The council was now printing stickers with contact details on, which would be attached to every card, she said.
The postcard-size cards ask people to make suggestions, comments or give feedback on next year’s budget.
There is also an option for people who want to take part in future budget discussions to provide contact details.
A borough council spokesman explained that the postcards are being distributed alongside clearly marked boxes in libraries, leisure centres and council buildings for people to contribute their ideas on the back of the postcard and “post” it in the box provided.
The spokesman added: “This way, people can easily fill in a postcard and pop it in the box nearby. There are also posters and flyers next to the boxes to explain the various ways in which you can send us your views, or you can log on to the council website and take part online. Go to www.warrington.gov.uk and follow the penny symbol.
“We will not be printing any stickers for the postcards or incurring any additional costs. So far, we have had a very good response from people completing postcards and sharing their views on this important issue so the different methods seem to be working.”

  1. Eh that’s all rather confusing or is it just me? Twice it says that the council ARE printing stickers…. at the bottom it says they are NOT printing stickers….. and it also says the cards are only in libraries etc next to the special ‘post it here’ boxes. So has it been done wrong or is the Borough Councillor just getting herself confused like I am now 🙂
