Hospital inpatient numbers rise to over 100 as 708 new COVID-19 cases confirmed

HOSPITAL COVID-19 related inpatient numbers have now risen to more than 100 as infection rates continue to rise in Warrington.

Meanwhile, 708 (641) new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed by the UK Health Security Agency in the latest daily data, taking the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 51,466 (50,758).

Infection rates over a seven-day period have risen again to 4,624 (4,464) – 2,208.2 (2,131.8) per 100,000 population which are well above the national average of 1,725 (1,596.9) per 100,000, which also continue to rise.

Hospital inpatient numbers have climbed from 77-101 in the past 24 hours, including three in ICU, while a total of 14 patients have been discharged.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 550 (550) 257.9 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 222.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 624 (624).

Today’s death figures include a backlog of hospital deaths reported overnight by NHS England covering the period 1st⁠–4th January.
Issue with cases by test type
Because of a processing issue, positive lateral flow tests followed by a negative PCR test in England were not removed on 4 January 2022.
Today’s total figures include removals for 2 days. Newly reported cases by publish date are unaffected.
Local vaccinations data delayed in England
Because of a delay in receiving data, vaccinations figures (including age breakdowns) for English regions, local authorities and MSOAs have not been updated.
