STAFF at a Warrington distribution centre tackled a fire themselves early today – and had extinguished it by the time firefighters reached the scene.
The blaze was at premises at Hardwick Grange, Woolston shortly before 4am and involved a forklift truck.
Fire crews from Birchwood and Lymm found the fire – which was out when they arrived – had involved the forklift truck battery.
The crews used a hose reel jet to dampen down the area and then used a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.
They were detained at the scene for around two hours.
