Council chief criticises mixed COVID-19 messages as town prepares to double vaccination effort

VIDEO: WHILE praising local residents for their response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Warrington Borough Council’s Chief Executive Prof. Steven Broomhead has criticised the Government’s mixed messages during a period of “tremendous uncertainty and anxiety.”

He believes the community has been “very compliant” and “stuck together” during the pandemic saying it has been an “empowering experience” running the town hall.

But he says there have been issues with mixed messages from the government, with it taking up to two to three weeks to get detailed information following announcements.

But he praised the NHS led vaccination programme with more than 80% of the town’s adult population now double jabbed and while the town now needs to double its vaccination programme to 5,000 jabs a day, he had been assured at the “highest level” that there are plenty of vaccines in stock for the booster jabs.

  1. Would it be fair to assume that `Four Pensions’ Broomhead is blaming everything on Ver Govment in this and all the other parts of this interview? If he retires again in the New Year, you can guarantee it will all come home to roost shortly after.
