UPDATED: A collision on the M62 at Birchwood, Warrington, caused five miles of delays earlier as well as traffic congestion in the surrounding area.
The incident occurred at around 4.30pm, today, Thursday.
The collision resulted in three of four lanes being closed on the eastbound carriageway between Junction 11 Birchwood and Junction 12 Eccles resulting in nearly five miles of congestion.
the incident resulted in heavy traffic in the area and delays to local bus services.
All lanes have since re-opened.
