Yellow weather warning for ice ahead of Storm Barra

THE Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice in the Warrington area with a minimum temperature -5 °C overnight.

It is forecast to be frosty overnight before Storm Barra arrives later tomorrow, Tuesday

Showers of rain, sleet and snow will push eastwards this evening, though will start to fizzle away leaving mostly clear skies overnight. Temperatures will drop off quickly, frost and icy are stretches likely by the morning. Minimum temperature -5 °C.

It is forecast to turn very windy and wet by lunchtime as Storm Barra arrives, heavy snow fall is expected over hills which may lead to blizzard conditions on high routes. Feeling cold. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:
Sunny spells and blustery showers of rain, sleet and snow on Wednesday. Calmer, drier and brighter on Thursday and Friday but remaining cold with a continued risk of hill snow.
