Pickaxe gang in raid on home

A HOUSEHOLDER was attacked and beaten with a pickaxe handle at his home in a leafy Warrington suburb.
He struggled with a gang of four men armed with pickaxes who confronted him when he returned to his house in Delph Lane, Houghton Green..
The 44-year-old suffered cuts and abdominal bruising in the incident on Monday evening.
He was eventually overcome and forcibly restrained.
The offenders – described as adults – fled the house with a number of personal items.
They all had their faces concealed by balaclavas and spoke with foreign accents – possibly Eastern European.
The victim was treated at Warrington but is not thought to have been seriously injured.
Anyone with any information, particularly anyone who may have seen anyone behaving suspiciously in the Delph Lane area between 9-10pm on Monday should contact Warrington CID on 0845 458 0000 or call the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
