HGV driver suffers “life-changing” injuries after collision on M62

UPDATED: THE M62 Eastbound at Westbrook, Warrington, has now fully reopened following a ‘serious collision’ during the early hours of this morning when a HGV driver is believed to have been struck by his own vehicle.

The motorway was closed in both directions between Junction 7 at Rainhill and Junction 8 at Westbrook near Warrington just before 2am following the serious collision.

Merseyside Police officers were called following reports the driver of an HGV had been injured on the carriageway close to junction 7 at Rainhill.

It is believed the driver was struck by his own vehicle, suffering “life-changing” serious leg injuries before the vehicle was in collision with the nearside barrier.

No other vehicles are thought to have been involved in the incident.
