Restaurant plan approved

A NEW restaurant in a busy village centre has been approved by Warrington planners – but will open just two nights a week.
Warrington’s planning committee approved change of use from retail to a restaurant at 50 Lodge Drive, Culcheth – despite objections that there were too many restaurants in the area.
Main objections came from local husband and wife councillors Keith and Sue Bland.
The premises used to be a wine store. Local people objected to the application because of the number of restaurants in the area, loss of a retail unit and because of chronic parking problems in the village centre.
Planning officers recommended the scheme go ahead. They say that 54 per cent of all units in the village centre will still be retail and the new restaurant will enhance the overall vitality of the shopping centre.
