No official Christmas lights switch on in Warrington

THERE will be no official Christmas lights switch-on in Warrington town centre this year although a calendar of special events is being lined up.

While the lights are still being switched on later this month in Golden Square and other parts of the town centre, there will be no public event.

It is the second year running that there will be no official Christmas lights public event, although Golden Square’s decision this year is not COVID-19 related.

This year on Friday, November 19 at 6pm, Golden Square will instead launch a video to mark the start of their ‘Very Caring Christmas’ campaign.

It will not be a video of a Christmas light switch-on event but instead a special video involving lots of the community partners they have worked with throughout the year.

Meanwhile, an exciting calendar of events is set to be unveiled by the Warrington BID team later this week involving various events across the town centre in the lead up to the big day.

Full details will be released soon.
