Wizards' play-off success

WARRINGTON Wizards had a fantastic 27-16 victory away at ‘minor premiers’ Bramley Buffaloes on Saturday in The Co-operative Rugby League Conference National Qualification Final to book their place in the Grand Final.
The final will take place at the Halliwell Jones Stadium as part of the Co-operative Championships Finals Day triple header on Sunday September 26. The game will kick off at 12.30pm.
The Wizards produced a very disciplined and composed performance against a Bramley side who had three men sent off and four sin binned whilst the Wizards only had one player sin binned and that was in the closing five minutes.
Points scorers for the Wizards in the memorable win were:
Tries: Graham Healey 1, Chris Campbell 1, Jono Smith 1, Simon McEvoy 1.
Goals: Warren Ayres 1, Jono Smith 4.
Drop Goal: Jono Smith 1.
After the game Assistant Coach Mike Grady said, “This was a superb effort from all seventeen players. We had a game plan to work to and the lads carried it out to the letter. We knew how difficult it would be as Bramley have reached the last five Grand Finals and have never been beat at home in a play off game, so that shows the enormity of our win. We started off like a house on fire and went 14-0 up early on and this seeemd to rattle Bramley as they started to lose their composure. We capitalised on this and made sure that we was not going to lose the game. To get to the Grand Final in our home town is great for the lads and they cannot wait to play at the Halliwell Jones. Hopefully the Warrington public will come out in force and get behind us as we attempt to lift the title.”
