SIX-year-old Archie Eason was on hand to help fly the flag as veterans and volunteers helped spruce up Warrington Cenotaph ahead of Remembrance Day.

Assisted by his dad Colin, a former member of the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers (REME) and volunteer Julie Francis and friends, Archie, a pupil at Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School, helped fly the new Union Flag donated by Warrington Borough Council.

Meanwhile, Julie and other volunteers helped put some finishing touches to the cenotaph on Bridgefoot by re-painting the giant poppies which are now on display.
Julie said: “Thank you to my little helper this year. Archie who is 6yrs old, his parents Colin Eason and Amanda Bannister.
“I do like to involve the younger generation.”
Julie also thanked Vets Wayne Harrop ex 22nd Cheshire Reg and Dean ex RA 32 for their support and Lesley Ann for buying a new poppy to replace a damaged one and Cath Forster for spraying the old ones.
