A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a robbery at the Warrington home of murder victim Shafilea Ahmed.
Police are still investigating the raid on Wednesday, but a 22-year-old woman originally arrested, and now known to be Shafilea’s sister, Alisha, has now been released on bail.
Three armed men burst into the house, in Liverpool Road, Great Sankey, on Wednesday evening, tied up Shafilea’s mother, Farzana Ahmed and three adult children.
They stole property from the house and left.
Police were alerted when one of the children managed to struggle free.
Shafilea’s father, Iftikhar Ahmed, was not at the house at the time.
It was in September 2003 that Shafilea went missing. Her remains were found in the River Kent, in Cumbria, in February 2004.
Despite a massive police hunt, her killer has never been found.
Police suspected the teenager may have been the victim of a honour killing and arrested her parents on suspicion of kidnapping her.
But they strenuously denied any knowledge of their daughter’s disappearance or death and were eventually released.
