MORE entries are needed for a competition offering young people the chance to write their own song and have it professionally recorded.
Cheshire Police has extended the closing date of its “Upbeat” contest until the end of September.
It offers singers and bands, aged 11 to 18, the opportunity to professionally record a song, work with a professional designer to create unique artwork and hear their song played on the radio.
Youngsters wanting to enter need to write, perform and record a three minute song based on one of the Upbeat topics, which can be found at ww.upbeat.uk.com
Songs must be original and the entry can be a video or just a recording of the piece. Work submitted so far is available on the website.
Cheshire Police is organising the competition to highlight the new website that links the service to young people in the community. It covers a range of topics and was designed in consultation with young people.
Anyone wanting to enter can upload the performance to YouTube or email the link to the video to [email protected] by September 30. Alternatively it can be sent on DVD/CD to Cheshire Police HQ, Oakmere Road, Winsford, Cheshire CW7 2UA.
The date has been extended to encourage schools, colleges or youth organisations to help out those who do not have access to equipment to record their song. The judging panel will consist of a member of Cheshire Constabulary, a studio producer and three young people from local schools.
