WARRINGTON Borough Council is seeking designs for a very special birthday card.
From January, all residents turning 18 will receive an extra card in the post – a reminder that they are now eligible to vote.
A council spokeswoman said: “We are looking for an eye-catching and unique design for the front of the card.
“Not only will the designer of the winning entry have their artwork seen by young people across the borough, they will also win a fabulous prize worth £50.”
Anyone aged between 14 and 18 who comes up with a potentially winning design should go to www.warrington.gov.uk/News/2010/August and click on “design a birthday card” to download an entry form.
Finalists will be shortlisted by a panel of judges in October. Their designs will then be on display in the town hall reception, online during Local Democracy Week October 11-15 and at a “speed debating” youth event to be held on October 14 so the public can vote for the overall winner.

Have they found some money that needs spending?
If, at eighteen, they don’t have the intelligence to know that they are now eligible to vote, are they really eligible to vote ?
I have a slogan “As long as we have your vote we are licensed to ignore your opinion”
That’s a winner Richie!!
