FIREFIGHTERS were called out to tackle a car fire at the Cantilever Bridge, Stockton Heath, shortly before 6 am this morning.

On arrival, the crew from Warrington fire station found the BMW at the side of a road. Its steering wheel was on fire.

No one was inside the vehicle and no one is believed to have been harmed by the fire.
A firefighter wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet.
The vehicle’s battery was disconnected and a thermal imaging camera was used to look for hotspots.
Firefighters left the scene once they were satisfied that the fire was fully out and the car was safe.
They were in attendance for less than half-an-hour.
