MP calls for action as thousands of tents and sleeping bags left littering Creamfields site

WARRINGTON South MP Andy Carter is calling for festivals to be made more environmentally friendly after thousands of tents, sleeping bags and other items were left scattered across the Creamfields site at Daresbury.

Around 18,000 tents are left annually according to Creamfields which can’t be recycled.

Mr Carter said: “While I’m really pleased to see the events industry back up and running and Creamfields is an important part of the festivals calendar, having witnessed for myself the day after the event I’m sure everyone involved can do more to recycle.
“Creamfields estimate around 18,000 tents are simply left in fields alongside barbecues, chairs, air beds and sleeping bags most of which end up in landfill as they can’t be reused.
“I’ve organised a residents debrief for those people who live nearby with organisers and this is certainly something which I’ll be asking them to address”.
