Caravan site to be doubled in size

A WARRINGTON farmer has been told he can double the size of a caravan storage site on his land – provided he tidies up the site.
The borough council’s planning sub-committee approved a retrospective application for permission to increase the number of caravans on land off Warrington Road, Penketh from 12 to 24.
But after hearing complaints from neighbours, who claimed the site was an eyesore, the committee decided to impose a condition that the site must be tidied up and hard-standing provided.
Penketh Parish Counci had opposed the scheme after hearing complaints from neighbours whose homes overlook the site.
They also claimed the movement of caravans caused disturbance and that the change of use of the land was out of keeping with a residential area.
But planning officers pointed out that the site was not in the Green Belt and the principle of the development was acceptable
Although the caravans were visible from properties in Warrington Road and Grange Drive, it is not considered the additional caravans would cause significant harm to the outlook.
Planning law was clear there is no “right to a view.”
