WARRINGTON South MP Andy Carter thanked Cheshire Fire and Rescue Personnel for their unwavering support to the vaccine roll-out effort during a tour around the state-of-the-art Safety Central education centre in Lymm.

Mr Carter gained an insight into how the site operates, which was used as a vaccine hub in addition to its normal role teaching children, young people and adults at risk how to stay safe, well and independent by experiencing a range of hazards in four themed learning zones that use special effects and realistic scenery to simulate hazardous environments.

The centre not only covers fire safety but also explores safety on the roads, in the community and online while addressing issues such as mental health, diversity and inclusion.
During the pandemic, team members offered their help to the community response in a number of ways. This included training as Covid-19 vaccinators, fitting and testing face masks for NHS colleagues, making welfare calls for those who were shielding and assisting at food banks across Cheshire.
Safety Central opened its doors in summer 2017 and is located opposite Lymm Services. It boasts a spacious multi-function hub used for events, training and meetings.
The MP also had chance to talk to local firefighters at Lymm Fire Station, which shares a building with Safety Central, about upcoming community projects and about the specialist training they undertake to rescue people from height and confined spaces.
Mr Carter said: “We owe a huge thanks to our emergency services so It was great to visit both Safety Central and Lymm Fire Station to meet local leaders as well volunteers, staff and firefighters on the frontline.
“I would like to thank all our emergency service personnel across Warrington for everything they do to protect us and the amazing job they have done in very difficult circumstances throughout the pandemic.”
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service Deputy Chief Fire Officer Alex Waller said: “We were very pleased to welcome Andy to Safety Central and Lymm Fire Station.
“In one location, he was able to see at first-hand how our skilled prevention staff, wonderful volunteers and highly-skilled firefighters are working together in different ways to make Cheshire a safer place.”
