Dancer Kate comes back home

TWELVE years after leaving Warrington to train as a dancer, former St Gregory’s High School girl Kate Jackson is returning to her home time with an exciting performance project.
The Household Dance Performance Project is a week of dance workshops based around everyday household environments culminating in a live performance at The Pyramid on Saturday, August 28.
Kate, (right) who grew up in the Padgate area, went on to Priestley College after leaving school and it was there that her exceptional talent was spotted.
Supported by the borough council’s dance and arts officers, she went to the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in 1998 and the London contemporary Dance School Edge postgraduate course in 2001.
Since then Kate has performed in a wide range of tours with international dance artists including Maresa von Stockert, balletLORENT, Frauke Requardt
and Co. Balbir Singh and more recently collaborated with theatre companies 30 Bird Productions and Rosenburg and Requardt.
She has just toured with Electric Hotel, commissioned by Sadlers Wells Theatre, London and is currently developing new work Clod Ensemble.
Anxious to “give something back” to Warrington in recognition for the early support she received from the town, Kate is taking time out from London to work on Household.
This offers an exciting professional development opportunity for local dance artists and also an opportunity for the people of Warrington to see a humorous and innovative new performance.
Kate, 30, said: “I need about 25 dance artists for the project and I am still looking for about 12. This will be a rare opportunity for up-and-coming young dance artists.”
Anyone interested in taking part in the project should email Kate at [email protected] or call 07776 095 838.
The show on August 28 starts at 7.30pm and tickets can be bought on the door or by email at [email protected]
