WITH more than 40 years of tradition and a year like no other, Penketh Carnival returned to Greystone Recreation ground with a carnival atmosphere.
Although there was no parade, it was business as usual as the event was officially opened by the Mayor of Warrington Cllr Maureen Creaghan.
There were lots of stalls and charities excited to fundraise again after last year’s event had to be cancelled due to the pandemic, during a full day of free entertainment.
The team behind the event had worked tirelessly to try and bring the event together after only officially deciding to go ahead on July 19 – no easy feat for an event this size .
With the usual attendance of Harrisons funfair, who have been supporting the Carnival for 40 years, the event provided a wonderful opportunity for children to enjoy after being so isolated for 18 months.
