Garage fire spreads to house

FIRE crews from Warrington, Birchwood and Chester fought a major blaze at a house in Culcheth.
The fire started in the garage of a house in Hob Hey Lane and spread to the main house.
Four fire appliances were involved in the operation, including a hydraulic platform. Fire crews wore breathing apparatus and use two hose reels and one main jet to tackle the flames, which were well established when they reached the scene.
Hard-wired smoke detectors were fitted at the house and did activate.
Extensive damage was caused but no-one was hurt.
