Electrical fault starts blaze

AN electrical fault on an extractor fan caused a blaze at a house at Warrington during the night.
The blaze was at a house in Shorwell Avenue, Great Sankey.
Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the outbreak with a hosereel and later used a ventilation unit to clear smoke from the property.
But fire damage was confined to the roof space.
A firefighter commented: “This could have been a very serious fire if we had not got to the scene quickly.”
In a separate incident, fire crews were called to Ellesmere Street, Warrington where a car – either stolen or abandoned – was deliberately set ablaze. The vehicle was a total burn-out.
