Woman rescued after falling down river embankment

TWO fire crews helped rescue a woman who had fallen down an embankment on the River Mersey at Howley, Warrington, yesterday, Saturday.

Shortly before 11.45 am fire crews were called to Howley Lane, Warrington.
One fire engine attended from Warrington and one from Penketh as two fire engines and a specialist boat were sent to the banks of the River Mersey following reports that a woman had fallen down the embankment.
Firefighters helped to rescue the woman and handed her to the care of the ambulance service.
The crews were at the scene for an hour and 10 minutes.
