TWO fire crews were called out during the early hours of this morning following reports of smoke coming from a cupboard of a flat in Warrington town centre.

Two fire engines attended, from Warrington and Penketh shortly before 2am after firefighters received a report of smoke at a flat in St Austins Lane, Warrington.

On arrival, smoke alarms were sounding and the crews discovered that the smoke stemmed from a fire in an electrical cupboard containing a boiler.
The electricity supply to the flat was isolated and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire with the aid of a hose reel jet.
Firefighters then used a large fan to clear the flat of smoke.
A thermal imaging camera was used to look for hotspots.
The fire, which is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault, did not spread beyond the cupboard.
Firefighters were in attendance for around an hour.
