Important wins for Warrington and Grappenhall

BOTH Grappenhall and Warrington comfortably won their games in the RSK Cheshire County Cricket League – lifting Warrington away from the relegation zone and keeping Grappers in touch with the leaders.
Batting first against Davenham at Walton Lea, Warrington hit199-7 in 50 overs, Patrick Tyrrell top scoring with an unbeaten 54 and skipper Jonathan Fletcher contributing 46.
Davenham were bowled out for 140 in the 39th over, Jake Liddle taking 3-35.



Grappenhall dismissed Urmston for 131 at Broad Lane, Arran McCabe taking 4-38 and Sam Guest 3-21.
Openers Adam Roylance, 28 and Peter Barnes, 42 got Grappers off to a good start and then Grant Hodnet hammered an unbeaten 50 to take the side to their target for the loss of only two wickets.
Warrington 2nd also enjoyed a good win at Davenham, dismissing the home side for 155, Shoaib Chattha taking 5-58. Warrington then knocked off the runs for the loss of three wickets with wicket-keeper Mahtab Alam top scoring with 65.
Grappenhall 2nd were not so lucky, going down by four wickets at Lindow.
Batting first, Grappers posted 181-7, Jack Critchley top scoring with 42.
Lindow replied with 184-6.
Grappenhall 3rd hosted Stockport Georgians and won by four wickets – their first league victory of the summer.
Georgians were dismissed for 166, James Knowles taking 4-23 and Stanley Pennington 3-45. Grappenhall’s batsmen mostly made useful contributions, skipper Richard Holden top scoring with 37 not out as they totalled 167-6 to take the honours.
In the UKFast Cheshire League, the “derby” game between Lymm Oughtrington Park and Appleton ended in a big win for the Lymm side.
Batting first, they hit a challenging 227-6, Matthew Bradshaw top scoring with an unbeaten 72, skipper Travis Scholes hitting 49 and Mohammed Bhola, 42 not out. Rory Kellett and Harry Sygrove each took two wickets for Appleton.
Appleton’s reply got off to a bad start with the loss of two cheap wickets and even though Ian Richards hit 47 they never recovered. In the end they were bowled out for 124 in the 31st over.
Lymm 2nd went down by 47 runs at home to Chester Boughton Hall, who batted first and hit a formidable 263-4. Lymm went for the runs with opener Prashant Nanda hitting a superb 102 from 101 balls, including 12 fours and two sixes. Jack Hughes hit an unbeaten 31 but in the end Lymm could only total 216.
Appleton 2nd won by eight wickets at Barnton after dismissing the home side for 95.
Alex Warham took 4-20 and Michael Cumberland 3-26.
Appleton knocked off the runs for the loss of two wickets.
It was a close-fought encounter when Appleton 3rd travelled to Urmston with the home side eventually winning.
Appleton batted first and posted 206-9, Sam Thorley hitting 45, Jake Rudwick 33 and Paul White 31.
Urmston reached their target for the loss of five wickets.
There was a nail-biting finish to the “derby” game between Appleton 4th and Glazebury 2nd.
Appleton emerged victorious – but only by seven runs.
Batting first, they hit 183-6, Marcus Pepper 33, David Hurst 37 and Paul Dempster 34.
Mathew Brunt got Glazebury off to a good start with a well-struck 64 and Gordon Chesworth hit 37 but Glazebury but fell short by seven runs on 176.
Glazebury went down to Burton at Hurst Lane after being bowled out for a disappointing 71. Skipper Sam Stanier top scored with 21.
The Wirral side lost six wickets reaching their target, all to the pace of Stanier who finished with 6-21 – a great performance but not enough to save the day.
Women’s Cricket
OLIVIA Green was in form with bat and ball as Lymm Oughtrington Park notched up their first win of the year in the Cheshire Women’s League.
First she took 3-8 as Hawk Green were restricted to 78-5.
Then she hit an unbeaten 20 at Lymm replied with 82-5 in 14 overs.
