Wizards miss chance to go top

WARRINGTON Wizards suffered a disappointing 32-4 defeat at Hemel Stags in The Co-operative Rugby League Conference national to miss the chance of returning to the top of the league table.
The Wizards, with seven players missing from last week’s excellent victory over Huddersfield Underbank Rangers, made a strong start taking the lead with a fine Graham Healey try that spanned almost the length of the field and involved five men but that was to be the last time that they would trouble the scoreboard, as the home side ran out comfortable winners. The final scoreline was harsh on the efforts of the Wizards players, who were still in the game until the final eight minutes, when the home side ran in three tries.
After the game Head Coach Chris Campbell said, “We we disrupted with so many changes and that made it difficult for us to gel as well as we would have liked. I cannot fault the efforts of all the players but a few wrong options coupled with some weak defence and poor handling saw Hemel get a deserved win but the margin of victory for them was very harsh on our lads. We now have a short turn around as we travel to play Liverpool Buccaneers on Friday evening, but we will work hard in training this week to make sure that we are ready for the game.”
The Wizards take on Liverpool at Bold Miners ARLFC, Fleet Lane, Parr, St. Helens on Friday evening, kick off 7.30pm.
