Bethan will be gala queen

THE annual Glazebury Gala takes place today with a procession through the village, a crowning ceremony at All Saints Church and then a range of activities including stalls and a funfair on the playing field at Glazebury CE Primary School.
This year, the gala queen will be Bethan McDermott (pictured) and her retinue will consist of Caroline Davies and Samantha Davies, the petal girl will be Heather Carnocan. Page boys will be Bradley Dean and Finlay Patterson.
As usual, retiring queen Hannah Weir will take part in the event, accompanied by her retinue of Lucy O’Donaghue, Jenny Cleworth, Olivia Eckersley, Charlotte Wild-Redmond, Nathan Glynn, Krishen Chadwick-Patel and Georgia-Anne Harris Moulton.
The procession will leave the Raven Inn at about 12.45pm and reach all Saints Church for the crowning ceremony at about 1.30pm.
