Village walking day

TODAY is Stockton Heath Walking Day – and also the main day of the third annual Stockton Heath Festival.
The Walk will start from Alexandra Park at 2pm and proceed through the village streets to Victoria Square and then back to the park. Roads will be closed to traffic between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
This year, the service at the park before the procession is being led by St Monica’s Church
Stockton Heath Festival is already well under way.
But there are plenty of events on today including: Jo Jingles fun for toddlers; World Cup Football Competition, Morris Dancers, Marching Band, Steel Band, Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, Photographic Competition at the Scout Centre; Dr Jazz & Cheshire Cats, Gospel Choir, all on Mill Lane Field, Boat Trips on the Bridgewater Canal from Thorne Marine.
Tomorrow, Sunday: Open Day at Red Lane Allotments; Presto Puppets at Scout Centre; Fun Dog Show at Mill Lane Field; Poetry Read in Marquee; Festival of Praise at St Thomas’s Church; Fairy (Geneva) Brass Band in Big Marquee at the Mill Lane Field.
