THREE Warrington high schools are to stage a series of al fresco Commedia Dell’Arte performances in the town centre.
Bridgewater, Great Sankey and Lysander high schools will present a unique collaborative showcase, “Poison in the Inn” will be performed at various times and in various central locations between July 13-17.
Commedia Dell’Arte has it’s origins in sixteenth century Italy and it brings together satire, comedy, dance and music.
Some 40 pupils from the schools have been working in conjunction with professional circus company Citrus Arts, Olly Crick, a professional Commedia Dell,Arte director and Stewart Coleman, a drama teacher at Bridgewater High.
Project co-ordinator Deborah Luty said: “I have been amazed with the enthusiasm from pupils and staff to make this dying art form a true success. The ideas and creativity the pupils are putting forward have been a credit to each of the schools involved.”
Diana Terris, chief executive of Warrington Borough Council and the Mayor of Warrington, Coun John Joyce will be attending the first performance next Tuesday (July 13) in Old Market Square.
