Grappers win “derby” game with Warrington

GRAPPENHALL coasted to an easy win in the RSK Cheshire County League derby game with Warrington at Broad Lane
Batting first, Grappers hit a challenging 221-5 with their two ex-county players both striking form with the bat.
Richard Green (Lancashire) hammered 62 and Grant Hodnett (Gloucestershire) hit 54. James Rudd picked up 2-55 for Warrington.
Skipper Jonathan Fletcher, 45 and fellow opener Patrick Tyrrell, 30, got Warrington off to a good start and at 94-1 they looked in with a chance.


But a collapse followed and the innings closed on 146 to give Grappers a 75 run victory.
Arthur Pennington did most of the damage, taking 6-13 in seven overs.
Grappenhall also won the 2nd XI game at Walton Lea.
Warrington batted first and were all out for 94, Nathan Lang taking 3-14 and Matt Titchard, 3-3 for Grappers.
Grappenhall lost just one wicket reaching their target, Steve Rooney hitting 46 and Ben Bodha 44 not out.
In the UKFast Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park were involved in a nail-biting tie at Middlewich.
Both teams hit 145 – Middlewich losing six wickets and Lymm seven.
Liam Ramsbottom hit 41 and Jake Hughes 59 for Lymm.
Pick of the Lymm bowlers were Travis Scholes, 2-28 and Jack Hughes 2-44.
Appleton travelled to Winnington Park where the home side hit 199-6, Andrew Jackson taking 2-50.
Ed Sygrove, 28 and Chris Morrison, 21, batted well for Appleton but the side could only muster 127-9.
Appleton 2nd crushed Ashley, rolling them over for 37 after hitting 184-7.
Appleton 3rd had a similar victory at Macclesfield, hitting 191-8 and then dismissing the home side for 56.
Appleton 4th also won, hitting 106-7 after dismissing Wistaston for 105.
Glazebury chalked up a six wicket victory over Kerridge thanks mainly to two all-round performances from Jack Warhurst, 3-5 and 33 and Sam Stanier, 4-10 and 23 not out.
