PLANS have been submitted for the demolition of a corner shop in Buttermarket Street, Warrington to make way for a modern retail and residential development.
The existing shop – most recently used as a sweet shop – is at the junction with Hill Street and next door to the locally listed Lower Angel pub.
Developers want to replace the existing building with a modern retail unit with four studio flats and four two-bedroom flats above it.
Proposals put to Warrington Borough Council suggest the development would bring about an improvement in the street scene in Buttermarket Street.
