Warehouse extension to go ahead

0

WARRINGTON planners have given the go-ahead for a warehouse extension and alterations to a service yard at the Asda store at Westbrook.
Members of the planning sub-committee visited the site after hearing of highway safety worries from local councillor David Earl.
He also questioned the adequacy of consultation with nearby residents.
Asda’s plan is to enlarge the existing covered warehouse, re-grade part of the service yard and remove existing gates. A canopy will be built over the area used by vehicles delivering internet orders.
Planning officers said there was currently no designated loading area for delivery vehicles and the changes would allow more efficient, less time consuming deliveries, removing the problem of lorries parking on double yellow lines in Westbrook Crescent.
They had consulted neighbours within a 25m radius of the site in line with council policy – but the only neighbours within that area were the youth centre and the library.
