THREE Warrington charities have launched a joint website to celebrate 10 years of helping children, young people and adults across the region.
People can now visit www.thepeacecentre.org.uk to find out more about services offered at the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Young People’s Centre – best known as the Peace Centre.
The Cromwell Avenue centre is home to the NSPCC, the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace, and Warrington Youth Club.
The new website has been launched to celebrate a decade of success at the centre and aims to highlight its work and provide information about the services available.
The £3 million centre was established as a memorial to 12-year-old Tim Parry and three-year-old Johnathan Ball who were tragically killed in the 1993 IRA bombing in Warrington town centre.
Since opening in March 2000 the three charities have helped more than 50,000 children. They work with vulnerable children, young people and adults affected by violence and cruelty and aim to inspire young people and adults to fulfil their true potential.
The NSPCC provides support to children and young people through counselling sessions, group work and advocacy services, and runs sports courses to help boost self esteem among young people.
Karen McManus, centre business manager, said: “It is truly inspiring to see the centre helping so many children and young people across Warrington 10 years on and the website www.thepeacecentre.org.uk allows us to share all the great work the centre is doing across the region.”
The centre’s facilities include a sports hall, games room and IT suite, art room, interview rooms, residential accommodation and a large safe garden area.
To mark the 10th anniversary a special programme of activities in planned including an open day in August, a fundraising event and work with schools.
