Elderly woman robbed by knifeman

DETECTIVES at Warrington today appealed for information following a robbery in which an elderly woman was threatened with a knife.
The incident occurred on Monday, at about 4.50pm on the car park next to the Cherry Tree public house at Culcheth.
A 73-year-old woman was on the car park, looking in her handbag, when she was approached by a man who grabbed the strap and tried to pull the back from her.
She kept hold of the bag but he produced a knife and managed to take it from her.
He then ran off across the car park and out of view.
The offender is described as a white man, aged 18-20 years, about 5ft 7 inches tall, of very slim build, clean shaven and with short dark hair. He was wearing a dark t-shirt and black tracksuit bottoms. He spoke with a local accent.
The woman was not injured but was left very shaken and distressed.
